Six Months Old!
WOW... half a year has come and gone! At six months, Sissy weighed 14 pounds, 11 ounces... and we think she was about 26.5 inches long. The week of her "half birthday" we visited three different doctors, for her first ear infection (thanks to a virus she and the Goose shared), six month check-up/shots, and a GI follow-up. Somehow none of the three nurses came up with the same length, so we just took the average.
The incessant drools are now accompanied by teething pain and chewing on everything. Thankfully, we saved the "fake remote" from the Goose's chewing days... the decoy has proven quite useful in trading for the real remote and our phones, both of which seem much tastier than toys!
Sissy also has a keen sense of timing... she knows when you are ready to sit down to eat, no matter what time (and it is never the same time), and she does NOT want to be left out. She now likes to put her hands in whatever you are eatting, and if you try to take the plate away from her, she will just grab the placemat or tablecloth and pull it toward her. This fun meal-time game led us to realize that Sissy actually likes gnawing on the table linens, so now we give her the napkin or placemat so Mommy can keep the plate.
In addition to playing more on her own and entertaining herself, even on her tummy, Sissy now naps in her crib! They may not be long naps, but they are naps! And they aren't in the swing or the car! Maybe the sweetest of all, when Daddy comes in from work, Sissy lights up... the minute she hears his voice, she looks towards the door, grins and starts jumping. Looks like I have another Daddy's girl on my hands!
First Foods!
Mommy reluctantly began introducing solid foods after Sissy's six month checkup. Though the sweet girl enjoyed every bite of her rice cereal, bananas, and sweet potatoes, her tummy did not. So after less than three weeks, Mommy decided we need to stick with just Elecare for a while longer... no need for any additional GI issues in this house!
Bonjour!
Sissy finally got to meet Lee, Jeremy, & Duchess too! The Goose was SO excited to see them all, but somehow she only ended up in a few pictures... probably because she hardly stopped moving the whole week! We enjoyed our visit, but were sad to see them leave... so sad that one little goose cried the whole way home from the airport.
While they were here, "Gamma's Carl" also came for a visit. We enjoyed showing him how little people live, though I imagine he was happy to return to the quiet of home after several days with the girls!
And I just couldn't resist sharing this... a little bit of sisterly payback!
Egg Hunt!
We wrapped up March with an Easter egg hunt with all our Sunday School friends. Sissy thought the eggs looked tasty, but the Goose kept her under control.
